Ecuador Plane Crash

A small army plane crashed on a building, in the upscale area of Ecuador capital, Quito on March 19, 2009. The crash left 7 dead, authorities said

It’s the Ecuadorian army plane which took off as part of training exercise crashed into building, an apartment in North Quito, killed 7 people that included soldiers and civilians.

It’s the Beechcraft propeller aircraft and the 5 people on board that included the major, captain and sergeant with 2 civilians were killed killing two people on ground, officials report.

The crash set the building ablaze and firefighters are deployed for a search and rescue operation. It took more than 60 minutes for the firefighters to put the inferno off.

It was exactly at about 5:20 pm (22:20 GMT) that the plane crashed AFP reports. At that time the plane was almost approaching Quito Airport. Reports say that the plane is in ship shape before it took off on that training exercise.

Call it coincidence but the area has been a witness and part of scene of over 4 mishaps in the recent years, a similar one occurring during 1992 when an army aircraft crashed into one building, leaving the erstwhile army commander, Carlomagno Andrade dead.
