T-mobile launches a USB dongle to render broadband network to Laptops
US’ T-Mobile is joining the wagon of cellphone makers to give mobile broadband network to laptop. They have come out with launch of a USB dongle which enables portable PCs and laptops a access to the Internet.

The plug-in USB costs $50 for 2 year contract and $100 in case the buyer signs for a year. Later on, it will be 60 clams a month for 8GB of traffic.
T-Mobile is trying to catch up with AT&T Inc. Verizon Wireless and the Sprint Nextel Corp., all three major mobile carriers to build 3G data network.
According to the company, the network was launched by T-Mobile during last year for Google phone and is expected to reach 100 millions by 2008 end. T-Mobile further plans to reach to 200 million by 2009. The current dongle is a product of Huawei Technologies Co. which had sold phones and data cards earlier.
Subscribers of T-Mobile using the USB dongle will get access to the company’s network of 10,000 Wi-Fi hot spots at airports, hotels and Borders bookstores. The subscribers also are eligible for free access at Starbucks shops. It should be noted that Wi-Fi download is faster than 3G, and will not come into the monthly traffic limit.
