Shah rukh Khan’s theatrics ensured a huge crowd turn-out – and in turn a profitable first season – but controversies all around ensured that the SRK-Ganguly relationship had soured to a great extent; ensuring that coach John Buchanan has proposed the idea of having multiple captains for the second season!
Even before the Buchanan-Ganguly ‘captaincy’ spat happened, the auctions had witnessed a high-drama selection in the form of Mashrafe Mortaza. Mortaza is a Bangladeshi pace bowler, with a chance of making it into the IPL as negligible as Rakhee Sawant’s dresses. Even if he did, he wouldn’t have expected to be paid more than the base price of $50,000 that he had been set and yet when the bidding war took his cost to $6,50,000 – and won by SRK – it did seem a little out of place!
Amongst the players to watch out for, Ajantha Mendis, Cheteshwar Pujara, Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle rank very high; with both McCullum being tipped to captain the team at some point in time or the other. The advantage that the KKR team may have this time is that both these players will have a much more extended participation in the tournament; something that should help them win more matches. Australian Skipper Ricky Ponting who played only a few matches in 2008 IPL season before returning to National duties, has pulled off from IPL 2 due to personal reasons. Due to Pakistani players unavailability in 2009, KKR has to suspend contract of key performer of 2008 season Umar Gul.

As of the Latest IPL News, I heard that Sourav Ganguly has been retained as the sole skipper for the Kolkata Knight Riders and New Zealander Brendon McCullum is likely to be appointed as the vice caption of the IPL team.
Saurav Ganguly did not take me in main matches of IPL. But after Asia cup now he realised that i bowl off breaks, leg breaks, googly, doosra, carrom balls. Actually i cannot concentrate on my bowling in IPL because of cheerleaders. Last year one cheerleader put her leg up to cheer and.. And… And… I .. I seen her ……. Oh gosh !!! I seen it and then next ball i was hit for a big six by Marsh (actually i purposely bowled a bad ball because i wanted the cheerleaders to cheer for that big six, and i was lucky because again she cheered and i got to she something very beautiful…..”hidden beauty”…. So lovely…… This time i decided that i will put fair and lovely to impress more cheerleaders and also to take more wickets so that cheerleaders cheer more for me…
Kolkata Knight Riders is IPL’s first team to find cheer leaders by a talent hunt show called knights and angels, judged by Sourav Ganguly and Guest Star and hosted by Bollywood actor Purab Kohli.
