The country’s one of the oil giants, Reliance Industries started pumping natural gas from its KG basins in the
massive deep-sea field of Bay of Bengal. The company sources say that when it peaks pumping it can nearly almost double the country’s gas output.
Petroleum Secretary RS Pandey today told reporters that the company was producing about 2.5 mmscmd (million standard cubic metres a day) of natural gas on Wednesday, and the output may just double in one day.
The first customer for Reliance Natural, a fertilizer company will get Reliance’s gas supplies in about 4 to 5 days. And the plant that is not close to the field will receive a little later, say, 15 days.
Reliance Industries signed an agreement with fertilizer firms during last week and its according to this that the company will prioritize giving first gas to fertilizer companies.
