Yes if you thought remembering 10 numbers is a task (agree that your organizer is remembering these anyway), there is added more to it. The DoT is contemplating on adding one more to the already existing 10 digits to make 11 digit mobile numbers. The proposal is to transfer the 10 digits to 11 digits in another 8 months, i.e., January next year.

December 2008 has seen a whopping increase in the number of wireless phone subscribers; a record 10.81 millions bloating the subscriber base to 346.9 millions at the end of 2008. This made the figure of growth close to 50% in the year 2008 alone and by August 2009 the ten digit numbers will get exhausted.
