Strong Earthquake Hits Parts of Central Italy and Northeast Rome
An earthquake as strong as 6.3 on the Richters shook central Italy and northeast Rome on Monday, damaging houses and some collapses as well along mountaineous region of east Rome.
Over 200 Dead in the Italian Earthquake Disaster

Officials say that the earthquake left several people injured and burying several people under the rubble of buildings collapsed near the city of l’Aquila. However, officials are still clueless about the situation.
The earthquake occurred at around 0335 early Monday morning (0135 GMT) and had its epicenter along the mountainous Abruzzo region of east of the Rome city.
Many old buildings crashed down in the city of l’Aquila. The residents of central Italy experienced the earthquake during their sleep, woke up and ran helter-skelter on the streets.
Indeed even people of Rome, a city that’s rarely hit news with earthquake woke up on Monday by the quake. The glass windows and furniture rattled and even car alarms went off.
US Geological Survey says that the epicenter of the earthquake was believed to be some 95 km from city of Rome and must have had a depth of 10 km. Initially the quake showed 6.7 on Richter Scale later it was shown to be at 6.3. Local authorities believe that earthquakes in this part could well be dangerous in Italy as it houses very old structures and buildings.

At least 50 die in earthquake in central Italy
The toll increased to over 100. About 100 die and 1500 people injured as of now and there could be so many hundreds burried under the rubble.

Yes! You are right! Italian government admits to loss of 207 lives and the pity is that the earthquake had left more than 100,000 people homeless in the city of Berlusconi!
Just a couple of hours ago, today, there had been another tremor ….an aftershock shook the region again and it measured 4.9 on the Richter scale.
