Cyberspies penetrate US Infrastructure Systems – Recent one that came to light is US Power Grid
Cyber spies? Yes that’s what they termed the espionage team who reached the US power grid. According to Wall Street Journal, a team of cyber spies have put in software programs in the power grid. These programs could be used to control the grid including disrupting the grid.
According to the newspaper, these cyber spies supposedly were from countries from East such as China and even Russia and some undisclosed places came on a motive and silently penetrated the US power system.
Although they have not done any damage per se to the grid infrastructure, they must be having key information including the map about it to use in times of contingency. However, the intelligence officials are concerned about the increasing intrusions, especially the water and even sewage and other infrastructure systems of the country.
