General Elections 2009 – Haryana

Haryana is a beautiful state filled with greenery in the northern India. It is a part of Punjab region, situated on the plains of Ganga. It forms northern, western and southern borders of Indian capital Delhi. A big part of the state is included in National Capital Region (NCR). The state Capital Chandigarh is a union territory administered by central government. It shears the capital with Punjab state.

General Elections Haryana

It has a rich and prosperous history of Vadic civilization at the river banks on Saraswati. The name Haryana is derived from Hindu god’s name “Hari” meaning lord Vishnu, and “Aayan” means home. It has also been a witness of several defining battles over the fields of Kurukshetra. The mythological battle of Mahabharata as well the three Panipat battles were fought in this region.

Haryana has been the biggest contributor in the Green Revolution making India independent in food production. Agriculture being the main industry, it is one of the biggest producers of grains and milk products. Most of the population is living in rural areas involved in farming. The state has 3rd highest per capita income strengthening the belief of prosperous and growing rural India.It hosts plants for Maruti Udyog Limited, India’s largest automobile manufacturer, and Hero Honda Limited, the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers.It is also emerging as the upcoming industrial state of and Gurgaon, located very close to Delhi, is the new It hub of northern India.
