Mr. India 2: Reliving a Two-decade old “magic”

mr india 2

Shahrukh khan hasn’t confirmed yet but in all probability, he is all set to charm audience in the inimitable role of Mogambo. The movie will be a Mr. India sequel and is tentatively titled Mr. India 2.

Mr. India was released some 22 years ago and shot to instant popularity at the box office. The concept of invisibility, the affable charm of “play-hot play -cold” Sri Devi, mesmerizing music and above all the unflagging viewers’ response to Mogambo (a character played by Amrish Puri) made it a huge success story.

To be directed once again by Shekhar Kapur, the sequel will have Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi playing an elderly couple and will also feature a younger couple, the cast of which is yet undecided.

Shekhar feels that no one can perhaps step into the shoe of the villain’s character better then King Khan who has a devoted coterie of global followers willing to pep him for the role. It will have to be a really consolidated effort from the master as he will try to replay a legendary role. Gabbar despite being brought to life again by Amitabh has failed to move an ant at the box office and only time will tell how well Shahrukh is going to fare.

With Rab ne.., he has certainly rubbed it the right way and the darling of the masses is likely to pull this difficult one off as well. Here is wishing the venture a rollicking success.
