Mizoram is named after the local habitants called Mizos, which form the major part of the population. Mizos are said to be migrated from china to India in the 18th and 19thCentury. It has mountain ranges running through out the state with 15 major rivers. It has become a separate state on 20th February, 1987, after a long fight between the government and Mizo National Front (MNF), which has took up arms after the famine in 1960. Mizoramis the second most-literate State of India with an overall literacy of 88.49%. However, it is also one of the most industrially backward States of India.
