Uttarakhand , also known as Uttaranchal is composed of two words, “uttar” meaning “north” and “khand” meaning “area”. Uttarakhand is the 27th state of India. It was formed on 9th of November 2000. Before that, it was a part of Uttar Pradesh. It is a state of fresh air, the pure water, the chilling snow, the beautiful mountains and simple and helping people.The small villages, stellated in lap of Himalaya, offer scenic beauty. It is one of the favorite tourist destinations with cities like Dehradun, Nainital, Almora offering a memorable stay. Having Uttarkashi, Haridwar and other countless religious places,it is one of the major religious tourism destination. It is also rich in wild life and the Corbett National Park is world famous for its tigers.
