Heavy Overnight Rain and Flash Floods in Frankfort
Heavy rain leads to Frankfort flooding

Continued heavy rains and many roads of Frankfort remained closed today morning while some parts of Frankfort are water logged after rain poured heavily last night. There has been some flooding in some parts of Frankfort. Schools of those flooded areas remained closed and there is evacuation seen from some homes.
According to Frankfort Police Deputy Chief, Randy Emery, the streets are slowly receding and that the emergency staff is keeping a close watch on the situation and things are slowly returning back to normalcy.
Heavy rain overnight resulted in flash floods and the city’s sewerage system could not cope with the challenge. It was on the city’s eastern side that things are particularly worse streets remained closed today morning.
According to Randy Emery. Street: Indiana 28 was closed due to high water levels. People used sandbags to stop rising water including some school authorities and Frankfort High School was flooded before authorities sprung to action of stopping further water influx using sandbags.
Most of the community schools of Frankfort city will remain closed today. Some schools will have a delayed start of their sessions. However, the police chief remarks that there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries due to floods.
Frankfort city’s sewer system seems to suffer from issues like this in the recent times, more so on the east side.
