Italian Prime Minister’s Wife Plans to File for a Divorce

The Divorce flu now spreads to political families too. After we have seen a couple of Hollywood actor’s wives filing for divorce cases, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi now faces a divorce call from his wife, former star Veronica Lario.

The former actress and wife said she will want to legally separate from her publicly flirting politician husband.

Veronica Lario and Silvio Berlus were married in 1990, and she is Mr. BerlItalian Prime Ministerusconi’s second wife. It is after 19 years of marriage that the woman now seeks a divorce stating reasons of public flirting of her husband. Veronica Lario will send a letter to him on Monday of her plans of divorce.

According to Italian news daily La Stampa Veronica Lario is beginning with divorce proceedings by hiring an attorney. According to the news daily she is forced to take this step.

According to another daily, Veronica was quoted as “I am bringing down the curtain on my marital life.”

However, the minister Silvio Berlusconi responded saying, “This is a personal matter that pains me, that touches my personal life.”

According to a government spokesman, the separation between the Italy’s first couple will not pose any political problem for the prime minister. The two of the couple have been staying in separate home for some years now, and Ms. Veronica very rarely accompanies her husband Mr. Berlusconi at official and public events.

It’ not new for Italians to see their prime ministers flirts with women.
