If there is a couple that has constantly set the cash registers ringing on the box office turf, it is Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. They have celebrated phenomenal success with “Namastey London”; “Singh is King” and the comic escapade called “Welcome”.

The on-screen couple has united again to produce what apparently should be a blockbuster. It’s tentatively titled De Dana Dan. De Dana Dan belongs to the comic genre and would be directed by one of the greatest exponents of the art Priyardarshan.

For the uninitiated, the very same man set up Akshay’s comic graph with the no-holds-barred comedy of Hera Pheri. For De Dana Dan, he might be banking on Akshay’s equation with Katrina but he would be equally confident on Akshay striking it rich with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty.

The film would be on floor in the month of November 2009 and follow a two-month rigorous shoot in Singapore. It also offers cameo from Neha Dhupia (too busy with IPL ) and Sameera Reddy. Reportedly, Asin (the Ghazni Girl) was confirmed for the role earlier but date problems resulted in her backing out. May be, in terms of pure acting potential then, the film has lost out as Asin has got rave reviews and a Filmfare Award for Ghazni, yet perhaps no one can excel beyond Katrina in terms of “Oomph” factor and sizzling chemistry with Akshay Kumar.

Post “CC2C” debacle and lukewarm response to “8×10 Tasveer”; even Akshay is looking to shoot a strong repartee on his critics.
