Manchester United vs Barcelona UEFA Champions League 2009 Finals Preview

Cracker of Soccer Final on cards! Watch Manchester United v Barcelona -- Champions League Finals on 27 May 2009.

La Liga leaders Barcelona have been in great form; thanks to Pep Guardiola and his leadership, and man, the Catalan giants already swept off with 15 games from the 18 they played in the league. They have scored 54 goals in this journey to their glory.

With Sporting Gijons they scored 6 against 1 and a 4-0 against Valencia and a 5-nil against FC Basel and courtesy in-form Lionel Messi and he has accumulated more fans this season and discounted every other soccer player including Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Carles Puyol, Samuel Eto’o, and Xavi with some breathtaking game of football.

No doubt the La Liga leaders are rightfully billed as the favorites to win the title of the UEFA Champions League 2009. The coach must be strategizing what to do to stop the Manchester United to becoming the first side ever to defend the European Champion Clubs’ Cup (it was in 1990 that AC Milan could do that).

The Manchester United, on the other hand, devastated Chelsea 3-0 and is the only team that has talents to counter the Barcelona’s attacking soccer. Besides the La Liga leaders Manchester United is one more team to have an attacking side.

Although Ronaldo is not in his best of form, he is all charged to tell why he is voted as the best soccer player in the world. Wayne Rooney and Berbatov too are building a partnership up front to defend the La Ligans. Then there is Ferdinand and Vidic who are strong at the center. But doesn’t the midfield of Manchester United look weak? I wish Darren Fletcher will prove yet again just the way he did in the last season.

It is actually difficult to say where the MUniteds doesn’t have what it takes to beat the Barcelona but the Red Devils certainly do not start as favorites, and I only see that they will be overwhlemed by the La Liga Leaders. The Barca has a great playing team, players as well as rocking coach all a plus to put them as strong contenders for the UEFA Championship 2009, although the Barcas have lost 3 finals and Manchester United never lost one final too and so it will be cracker of soccer.

I will be all my eyes to see how Rooney and Ronaldo will tear apart the Barca’s defence and will make it worth watching final. So who do you think will lift the UEFA Champions League trophy? Barcelona or Manchester United? Have your say here!

People are saying, Barcelona are the best team. May be United are little bit less technical compared to Barcelona. But otherwise United are physically stronger and are also very good defensively. Most of the players in the united team are playing together for the club at least for three or more years. It would be a great champions league final, definitely not one-sided match.

Manchester United clinched the 2009 Premier League title with a draw against Arsenal on May 16, 2009, their 11th Premier League title, and 18th League title overall, drawing level with Liverpool.

Both are my fave team in their respective league. And both have equal strength and form. Both had just won their league in their own country.

It’s very hard to say who will win. The team that can handle the pressure better will win. Man Utd have a more experience manager compare to Barcelona and that might prove to be the killing part for Barcelona.

The ability of Barccelona to possess the ball could deprive Manchester United the attacking chances, thus giving Messi the advantage to score. My fears however, is whether Barcalona has a perfect replacement for Daniel Alves to counter the speed of Christiano Renaldo.
