Maruti Ritz to be Launched on May 15: Maruti Suzuki
MSUL is all set to launch its new model Maruti Ritz Car on May 15, 2009 from its state-of-the-art plant Manesar, Gurgaon.
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz is already a success in the European markets with the name SPLASH and the hatchback will kiss Indian roads in a couple of days from now. Before reviewing the new Ritz, there are some trivia you need to know about this B+ Segment car.
- Maruti Ritz India becomes the first car model approved by the ICAT (the International Center of Automotive Technology.
- Maruti Ritz becomes India’s first passenger car that will be compliant to BS-IV norms; both petrol and the diesel versions.
- Maruti Ritz is the first car from Maruti to run on K-12 engine
- Maruti Ritz also becomes the first Indian car to clear Electro-Magnetic Compatibility tests.
- Maruti Ritz is chromium, cadmium, and mercury proof; the first car in India without these metals to make it eco friendly during its recycling.
Sneak peek into the Roomy Maruti Ritz
Looks wise, the new Maruti Ritz has awesome styling and a European design with superior roomy interiors. The rear seat is made to accommodate 3 people comfortably.
The roomy Maruti Ritz runs on K12M which is 1197 cc low-weight all-aluminum 4-cylindered engine (4 valves a cylinder) integrated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine does 85 PS of power at 6000 rpm and torque will be 113 Nm @ 4500rpm – implying Ritz can fly on roads, I mean it! FLY ON ROADS. The K12M engine also gives pretty low emissions so its the earth lovers’ car. The ground clearance is raised by over 30mm as compared to its international clone Splash so to make it suitable for the pothole laden Indian road conditions.
The new Maruti Ritz is tipped to give an envious fuel economy of 17.8 km per liter of petrol, although it is slightly lower than the Maruti A-Star that gives about 19.6 kmpl economy.
According to industry sources, Maruti Ritz will come in 6 variants; three petrol and three diesel versions. The new Maruti Ritz comes with i-CATS (intelligent Computerized Anti-theft System) on all its variants.
There have been some design tweaks to the engine so to make Ritz E10 compatible too- which makes Ritz the first car in India to be able to run on 10% ethanol-mixed petrol when the fuel hits the Indian petrol pumps. The stylish and spacious new Maruti Ritz will surely entice the Indian car lovers.

i took a test drive today and believe me it literally fly’s on the road…touched 120 KM/hr with ease..manuvering is good. the rpm meter gives a sporty feel..reminds u of beetle…suspension are quiet impressive..even on high speeds it is stable on highways..and not to mention the top model costs around 5.5 on road
i will rate 9/10….its worth…….

Finally I managed to book one……Ritz…its an amazing car. I took a test drive and it was just so smooth that I touch 60 in just few seconds….and the comfort is awesome…I have took a VXI petrol version and it is amazing……….Just that you dont get the red color which they show in splash…Suzuki.
how come none of these small cars come with airbags?

ritz an awesome car… interiors of ritz are superb, even better den i 20 n fabia.. u will enjoy d luxury comfort when driving ritz.As far engine is considered, petrol k series and diesel same as swift…. ritz have more sapce, comfortable legroom and head space…ritz rocks forever….
i feel it will be good expriance with ritzwe will parchase it on 17 jan on my Bday.
in ritz there is no jerks etc. Fuel effecient 22 kms /ltr with ac on highway, (and the 2nd service is not yet done.) the average is bound to go up….Car is roomy inside, air conditioning is super effecient, I never had to go above the 1 level .this is the best hatch back value for money!!
