The 43-year-old Cynthia Nixon announced the engagement on support to same-sex marriage in a rally for gay rights in midtown, Manhattan, New York on Sunday. Surprisingly the rally also featured New York Governor David Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Cynthia Nixon is mother of 2 (12-year-old Samantha and 6-year-old Charles) from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes.
Both Cynthia and Christine have been dating from 2005 after the Star and the City actress separated from her long time companion, Danny Mozes with whom she shared bed for 16 years.
‘The Sex and the City’ star reiterated she wanted to definitely marry in New York whenever it becomes legal. Her statement reads (As told to Access Hollywood) like this: “I don’t really want to get married to get married pretend. I think we would like to do it in a real actual and legal way that the state would recognize.”
