Monaco GP, Formula 1 2009
Formula 1 at Monaco is on the 24th May 09. This track has never failed to thrill my racing senses, as year after year it turns out to be the most exciting race of the season. It has a circuit length of 3.34 Km and the race consists of 78 laps.
It is phenomenal to watch the race cars drive through the city streets and the tunnels at close to 300 kmph.
Micheal Schumacher is the beholder of the lap record at 1:14:439 in the year 2004.
Last year we saw the World Champion Lewis Hamilton getting through the start finish line just 3 secs ahead of Robert Kubica, and Felipe Massa finishing third less than 5 secs behind Lewis. 5 cars got indulged in an accident, and Fisichella in the Force India suffered from a Gear box failure.
Mc Laren has dominated the Monaco Grand Prix in the past 3 years. Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen have tasted victory in Monaco previously, and it would be interesting to watch how the drivers would perform in the current years tough situations.
Monaco is one of the most exciting races as there are more opportunites to overtake, and the Qualifying positions does not provide a huge advantage to the drivers.
I am sure to be glued to the Qualifying and the race this weekend!
