Jenson Button Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix 2009 Winner
Jenson Button won the Monaco Grand Prix on May 24 2009, Sunday, seizing his fifth win in the 6 races total held in this 2009 Formula One season.
Jenson Button indeed finished 7.6 seconds faster than his Brawn GP teammate and Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello. The victory also makes Jenson Button taking home 4th straight win of the season.
With this victory Button leads the season table for driver championship with 51 points. Next in line is his Brazilian counterpart Barrichello with 35.
It is quite unfortunate for Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull who goes 28 points behind Button as he crashed out of the race after 16th lap. He is still in the third place with 23 points.
Thanks to Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen who took Ferrari for the first time to the podium this season after finishing 3rd in the race. Felipe Massa finished fourth for Ferrari and Red Bull’s Mark Webber finished 5th with his points tally now at 19.5.
It is after 3 decades that Brawn GP became the first team in the inaugural season to take home a win in Monaco. Jody Scheckter for Wolf did it almost 3 decades ago.
Defending champion Lewis Hamilton finished 12th and indeed he started on the grid.
Jenson Button accepted the trophy from Prince Albert.

This year F1 sucks. We all know Button is not the best driver and that these testing regulations are stopping other teams from being competitive. This is boring F1. Schumacher Dominated and many people didnt mind because this guy was really good. He won the championship with a Benneton Renault b4 he did it with Ferrari. F1 this year sucks. Button doesnt bring anything new to the table. Just a superior car. this sucks
I agree, how on Earth could a new team dominate the entire field now winning 6 of 7 while other championship winning teams like Ferrari and McLaren are struggling to stay in the middle of the pack. A lot of the new regulations are stupid. For example I think reducing down force is ok for closer racing, but the testing issue is clearly holding teams back from being competitive. Especially when the FIA is going to make exceptions for teams, allowing their controversial diffusers. I mean seriously, 6 of 7 and three 1 2 finishes for a new team with no sign of other teams being able to compete is ridiculous. The sport has some work to do, hopefully they dont blow it and piss off all the manufactures for next year. If there is no Ferrari, Im not watching the bull shit anymore.
FIA wanted to increase competitiveness in the sport and all it did was to whack the best three teams and give it all to the rookie franchise.
Now, we ended up with caps that will keep the big boys out (the big ones who bring the fans). The current mediocrity is boring. Good luck keeping the average fan watching if the big names, sponsors, best drivers, …. are not in the winning column.
