Millvina Dean Dead -The Last Survivor of Titanic Died
Millvina Dean, the last survivor of the sunken ocean liner of 1912, breathed her last in a hospice care nursing home in England. Millvina was 97.
The woman was 9 weeks old when Titanic hit the iceberg in the Atlantic on April 12, 1912 was Elizabeth Gladys Dean, but more popular to dear ones as Millvina Dean, survived along with her mom Georgette Eva and brother Bertram. She lost her dad, Bertram Frank, in the tragedy. She was the youngest passenger on board and she did not come to know until she was 8 years of age.
Millvina Dean worked as a government cartographer during WW II. Dean was quoted of saying that until Titanic’s wreckage was found, she was just an ordinary woman, and later on she attained a celebrity status.
Dean lately has been staying in a private nursing home after breaking her hip 3 years back and ever since she was staying there in the nursing she had been struggling to pay her bills, so she started selling Titanic memorabilia in open auctions, until Hollywood celebrirties and Titanic movie stars Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio and James Cameron came forward to financially bail her by starting Millvina Dean’s fund after donating $30,000 to the fund.
