Svetlana Kuznetsova Wins French Open
Russian born 25-year-old Svetlana Kuznetsova wins the French Open Women Singles final 2009 crushing fellow Russian Dinara Safina in straight sets 6-4 and 6-2. This is the second Grand Slam title for the 25 year old star.
Although Kuznetsova started off nervously she did overcome to win the first set 6-4 against fellow Russian and world number one Dinara Safina.
The US Open Champion in 2004 played outstandingly well never giving any room for the world number one and kept up the pressure to win the second set too with ease. Seventh seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova won the second set easier than her first 6-2 and she becomes the winner on the clay court today. It looked that Kuznetsova had a wonderful control on the game and her backhand winners treat to watch. The all-Russian women’s singles final ended continuing the world number one’s wait for a grand slam title.
