After the Royal Enfield’s foray into the two wheeler segment in the United States, it is now the turn of Indian based TVS Motors to get its colt from the stable slowly but steadily to cater to the needs of world’s most developed market, the US automobile sector.

TVS Motor is a Chennai based company belonging to the $4 billion TVS Group and the company plans to roll its flagship product; the 160cc premium Apache RTR in US. Besides TVS, there is news that another Indian company, Mahindra and Mahindra that will soon enter US automobile market with its utility vehicle Scorpio.

The advanced fuel injection TVS Apache RTR has undergone though small cosmetic makeover and tweaks to pass the stringent emission norms as well as other mandatory technical tests in US. With the successful passing of all the norms, TVS is now in the penultimate stage of launching its model on American streets. The company has also identified distributors in US. There are reports that Minnesota based Classic motorworks that sells the Bullet, Chroma and Classic variants of Royal Enfield Motorcycle have agreed to deal with the TVS bikes as well.

The two-wheeler segment of US is not that large and it is mostly dominated by biggies such as Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Yamaha and Triumph. TVS Motors aim to establish its brand credibility and expects to sell at least few thousand bikes in the first year.

TVs Motors already has presence in overseas markets such as in Latin America, South-East Asia and Africa and now its entering the US market which ranks at least in the Top 10 of the two-wheeler segment in the world.
