Serena Williams Wimbledon 2009 Womens Singles Winner
27-year old Serena Williams beat her elder sister Venus Williams in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 to win Wimbledon title for the third time. This also takes her grand slam titles tally to 11.
In a, yet again Williams v Wiliams finals at Wimbledon, Serena’s hard and power game has won over Venus’ agility and elegant tennis. Serena outserved Venus, and the first set saw the 2 sisters never giving up and dragging it to tiebreaker.
However, in the second set Serena lifted her game beyond Venus abilities and she dictated the entire set. Venus won a couple of games, but her next serve Serena broke comfortably and she takes the momentum forward until she took the title. Serena also takes credit of stopping five timer Venus from becoming the first only woman to become Wimbledon winner 3rd consecutive time after Steffi Graf won in 1991, 92 and 93.
Serena Williams takes the pride of becoming Wimbledon 2009 womens singles winner on the 4th of July.
