Ashes 2009 2nd Test Cricket Australia vs England Live Score

ashes test 2009 series

Team England stunned everyone by drawing the first test match at the Cardiff with Aussies who had posed a mammoth total of 676/6 declared.

It could have been an amazing victory for the Aussies but the Ashes probably had a different script in mind, the last wicket partnership between Monty Panesar and James Anderson when the score was 252/9 in the final innings came in as a saving grace for the English and indeed a bitter draw for Ricky Ponting and men.

All the good work by the Team Australia went down the drains. Paul Collingwood’s knock of 74 cannot be discounted in the Englishmen’s efforts and it came in as brilliant and took in 200+ balls to score that. No doubt his knock had contributed England to turn the Ponting’s dream sour. Even after four Australian batsmen scoring centuries and the captain leading from the front with 150 runs did not simply go Australia’s way.

Ricky Ponting was addressing press and lamented at the time wasting tactics of England and alleged that the hosts did keep up or play in the spirit of the game. He remarked that their team is certainly unhappy about the English tactics.

What it simply means is that an exciting battle is in store for all of us when the Aussies will come hard and strong with no stone unturned when they meet England in the second test.

Team England though made one change in their squad- Andrew Flintoff is ruled out after a knee injury which made way for pacer Steve Harmison. Team England’s overall performance in the first test was nothing more than ordinary but they have luckily tripped on a golden chance to make a comeback in the Ashes again.
